WHO WE ARE

Our History

Karis was established in 2011 to be a blessing to many people. “Karis,” a Greek word that is often translated as “grace,” was chosen because the grace of God’s presence will supply its needs and allow this venture to glorify Him and bring blessing to others.

The Karis ministry was founded by the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren (COB) in Weyers Cave, VA. The concept was born when Railside Industries owners offered space to Pleasant Valley COB to house a ministry of their choosing. Several members of Pleasant Valley formed a board of directors and established the Karis Project as an independent ministry that maintains strong ties with Pleasant Valley COB.

Our Mission

Karis is a nonprofit organization committed out of gratitude for God’s grace and love to help and serve others with kindness, love, and compassion by offering a caring place that fosters changes in the lives of people in response to God’s creative work in us.
